First look at Sitecore Send (Moosend)

Since I work a lot with Sitecore platform (including email marketing in EXM), I was really excited when Sitecore acquired SaaS vendor Moosend. Don't get me wrong, Sitecore EXM is capable, but experiences from early adopters were not so great, and jump-starting to the cloud-based email marketing is a great idea.

Registration is pretty simple (and free!), I got started in less than a minute. Not sure why it asks for address though.

Moosend UI

The UI greets you with "quick start" screen that guides you through the first steps. This is cool little thing many other tools lack!

The sidebar on the left is self-explanatory and I'll start with Campaigns. The following campaign types are available:

You can build a contact list yourself or import it from one of the following sources:

Once you start building campaign, another sidebar menu appears and shows you the steps. I was a little confused by the screen below, specifically - why is there an option of plain-text email, if the other ones says it will fallback to plain text anyway.

The editor is slick! Also, the guided training is built-in here too:

All the structures, elements (buttons, images, videos, etc.) are there and quite typical. But the template library - it is way better than the one in Sitecore EXM. Just take a quick look:

Overall, the experience is great and I did not need to read documentation to get started, everything is self-explanatory, quick and responsive.
